You can buy bullion in three ways: visit us in person at our Sydney or Melbourne offices, call us on 1300 000 000, or enquire online via our contact page. Our team will confirm live pricing, product availability, and payment options. Once confirmed, you can pay and elect to collect in person, have it delivered, or place it directly into vault storage.

No account is required for walk-in or phone purchases. For larger transactions or ongoing storage arrangements, we may create a client profile for you. All transactions require valid government-issued photo ID as required under Australian AML/CTF legislation.

There is no formal minimum purchase. Our smallest products start from 1 gram of gold (approximately $160–$200 AUD depending on the live spot price). However, we recommend starting with at least a 1 oz product for the most liquid and cost-efficient entry point — smaller denominations carry proportionally higher premiums per gram.

Yes. Solomons Bullion is an authorised distributor of The Perth Mint and the Royal Australian Mint. This means all Perth Mint products we sell are sourced directly, guaranteed authentic, and eligible for Perth Mint's buyback programme. You can verify our authorised status directly with The Perth Mint.

We accept bank transfer (EFT), cash (within legal limits), and EFTPOS for in-person purchases. For larger transactions, bank transfer is preferred and may attract a slightly better price. We do not accept credit cards or cryptocurrency payments. Funds must clear before product is released or placed into storage.

As required under Australian Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) law, all customers must present valid government-issued photo ID. We accept a current Australian passport, Australian driver's licence, or foreign passport. For transactions over certain thresholds, additional documentation may be required.

Yes. Bullion makes an excellent gift. We can present it in gift packaging with a certificate. However, AML/CTF regulations require us to identify and verify the purchasing party. The person presenting payment and ID will be the recorded purchaser.

Both are investment-grade and GST-free. The key differences are:

• Bars — lower premium per gram, more cost-efficient at larger sizes. Best for investors focused purely on gold content.
• Coins — slightly higher premiums but carry government legal tender status and are more widely recognised globally. Easier to sell in smaller lots.

Yes. We stock a full range of investment-grade silver and platinum bullion. Silver is available from 1oz coins to 1kg bars; platinum from 1oz coins to 1kg bars. All investment-grade silver (≥99.9%) and platinum (≥99%) are also GST-free in Australia.

Precious metal prices move continuously during market hours. The price you're quoted is valid for a short confirmation window — typically 60–120 seconds. Once you confirm and payment is committed, the price is locked in. For in-person transactions, we use live spot pricing at the time of completion.

Physical bullion can be held in a Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF) under certain conditions — it must be an investment-grade asset, stored appropriately, and the sole purpose test must be met. We can provide documentation suitable for SMSF trustees. We recommend consulting your SMSF auditor or financial adviser regarding compliance requirements specific to your fund.

Yes. We accept investment-grade bullion from all major recognised mints — whether purchased from us, another Australian dealer, or an international mint. We test every item for authenticity and purity at no charge before making an offer. Bring your bullion in to either office for a free assessment.

Payment is processed on the same day via direct bank transfer. Funds typically clear the same business day or the following morning depending on your bank. We do not pay cash for transactions above the legal cash threshold. You will need to provide your BSB and account number.

All sellers must present valid government-issued photo ID. We accept a current Australian passport, Australian driver's licence, or foreign passport. For transactions over $5,000, we may also request proof of purchase or provenance documentation for large lots.

There is no formal minimum. We will buy a single gram of gold or a single 1oz coin. For very small amounts, walk-ins are most efficient. For larger lots (over $10,000), we recommend calling ahead to arrange the transaction.

The spot price is the current global market price for the immediate delivery of one troy ounce of a precious metal. It is published continuously during trading hours, derived from transactions on the COMEX (New York), LBMA (London), and other exchanges. The premium is the amount you pay above the spot price to purchase physical bullion. It covers minting and refining costs, dealer margins, insurance, logistics, and supply/demand dynamics. Premiums typically range from 1.5% (1kg bars) to 15%+ (1g coins). Solomons Bullion operates on competitive premiums — typically 3–4% for standard 1oz gold. Smaller sizes carry higher premiums per gram.

Prices on our Live Pricing and product pages refresh every 60 seconds from live market data. Prices are sourced via MetalPriceAPI in AUD, meaning no currency conversion delay. The timestamp shown indicates the last successful data refresh.

Minted coins require more complex production than cast bars, carrying a slightly higher premium. Coins also carry government legal tender status and often have numismatic appeal which adds to demand. For purely investment purposes, bars typically offer better value per gram — especially at larger sizes.

A troy ounce is the standard unit of weight used for precious metals. 1 troy ounce = 31.1035 grams. This is different from a standard (avoirdupois) ounce of 28.35 grams. All global precious metal prices are quoted in troy ounces. Make sure to use 31.1035 when converting spot prices to per-gram rates.

Gold is traded 24 hours a day on global markets. Its price is influenced by interest rates, inflation expectations, central bank buying, geopolitical events, the strength of the US dollar, and investment demand. Gold has no cash flows or dividends — its price purely reflects the market's assessment of its monetary and safe-haven value at any given moment.

The LBMA Gold Price is the global benchmark price for gold, published twice daily (AM and PM) by the London Bullion Market Association. It is used as a reference rate by mining companies, central banks, jewellers, and bullion dealers worldwide. Most gold contracts and transactions globally are priced off the LBMA fix.

For in-person transactions, the price is agreed at the time of transaction and confirmed once payment is committed. For large orders arranged remotely, we can discuss forward pricing arrangements. We offer three storage plans: Starter (free for the first 3 months with any purchase), Standard (0.15% per annum of holding value), and Premium (0.10% per annum for holdings over $250,000). Allocated storage means your specific bullion items — each identified by serial number — are registered to your name. They are physically separate from all other clients' metals and never appear on our balance sheet. If Solomons Bullion were ever to cease trading, allocated holdings are protected and returned to clients as priority assets — completely separate from any company liabilities.

Yes. Every item in our vaults is insured for its full market replacement value through Lloyd's of London — the world's oldest specialist insurance market. Cover includes theft, fire, flood, earthquake, and accidental damage with no excess and no cap on total insured value. You receive a Certificate of Insurance naming you as the insured party before your metals enter the vault.

Contact us to arrange a vault access appointment with 24 hours' notice. Your specific, allocated items will be waiting for you exactly as registered. Access is available during business hours at both our Sydney and Melbourne offices. For Premium clients, priority access arrangements can be made.

Yes. We accept transfer-in of investment-grade bullion from other dealers, The Perth Mint, and most international mints. A transfer-in assessment may be required to verify authenticity and condition. Contact us to arrange a transfer assessment — our team will guide you through the process.

No. There are no lock-in periods, no exit penalties, and no notice period to cancel your storage arrangement. You can withdraw your metals, sell them, or arrange delivery at any time. Simply contact us and give 24 hours' notice for collection appointments.

Standard storage is 0.15% per annum of the current market value of your holdings. Fees are calculated daily based on the live spot price and billed monthly. For example, $100,000 of gold stored for one year costs approximately $150 — less than one-tenth of a percent. There are no other fees, no setup costs, and no exit fees.

Our vaults are rated to Class 10 — the highest commercial security standard in Australia. Security measures include: 24/7 armed personnel and CCTV monitoring, biometric + PIN + key triple-authentication access, fire-rated doors with argonite gas suppression, elevated flood-proof construction, and annual independent audits by a Big 4 accounting firm.

Yes. We offer fully insured, discreet secure courier delivery Australia-wide for purchases meeting minimum order thresholds. Delivery is arranged through a specialist precious metals courier service — not standard parcel post. The package is insured for its full value in transit. Yes — walk-ins are welcome during business hours at both our Sydney (Level 10, 1 Martin Place) and Melbourne (Level 8, 360 Collins Street) offices. For large orders, we recommend calling ahead so we can have your products ready. Business hours: Monday–Friday 9am–5pm, Saturday 9am–1pm.

Yes. All deliveries are covered by full replacement-value insurance from the moment they leave our premises until they are signed for at the delivery address. In the event of loss or damage during transit, you are covered for the full market value of your order at the time of the incident.

Yes. Stored clients can request insured delivery of their allocated holdings at any time. Give us notice and we will arrange secure courier delivery to your nominated address, fully insured in transit. Delivery costs apply and vary by order size and destination. Alternatively, collect in person from our offices at no cost.

All bullion is packaged discreetly — outer packaging gives no indication of contents. Products remain in their original mint packaging (sealed in assay cards or blister packs where applicable). Bars and coins are wrapped and secured against movement. The outer box is plain and nondescript with no precious metals branding.

No GST applies to investment-grade precious metals. The specific thresholds are: Gold ≥99.5% pure, Silver ≥99.9% pure, and Platinum ≥99% pure. All investment bullion bars and coins sold by Solomons Bullion meet these thresholds. Scrap gold, jewellery, and non-investment grade metals are not exempt. We are a registered precious metals dealer for GST purposes.

Yes. The sale of physical gold is a taxable event in Australia and any profit (or loss) is subject to Capital Gains Tax (CGT). If you hold the asset for more than 12 months, you may be eligible for the 50% CGT discount as an individual. CGT does not apply to the purchase — only when you sell. We recommend consulting a qualified tax adviser for your specific situation. We can provide purchase receipts and valuations on request.

Yes. Bullion can be purchased in the name of a company, family trust, or SMSF. We require appropriate documentation — such as a company certificate, trust deed, or ABN — along with ID for the authorised representative. Different CGT and reporting rules may apply depending on the structure. Seek accounting advice for your specific entity.

As a registered Australian business, we comply with all ATO reporting requirements. Significant cash transactions are reported as required under AML/CTF law. We do not routinely report all bullion transactions to the ATO, but we maintain transaction records and can provide documentation to clients or regulators as required by law.

Physical bullion can be held in a Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF), subject to compliance with the Sole Purpose Test and ATO regulations. Investment-grade bullion must be properly stored (not kept at home without specific approval), and the SMSF trust deed must permit the investment. Yes. A detailed tax invoice is issued for every transaction, showing the products purchased, weight, purity, unit price, total amount, and our ABN. This receipt is important for CGT record-keeping purposes and should be retained. For storage clients, quarterly or monthly inventory statements are also issued.

All bullion sold by Solomons Bullion is sourced directly from authorised mints or their official distributors. As an authorised Perth Mint dealer, our gold is guaranteed authentic. Every product carries the mint's hallmarks, assay certifications, and (where applicable) a unique serial number. We test all incoming items with professional XRF spectrometry before they enter our inventory.

An assay card (also called a CertiCard) is a tamper-evident sealed card containing the bullion bar, along with a certificate from the producing mint confirming the bar's weight, purity, and serial number. Breaking the seal voids the certificate. We strongly recommend keeping bullion in its original assay card — it simplifies resale and buyback, and maintains the highest possible value.

Minted bars are produced by precision stamping, giving sharp edges, a polished surface, and often an artistic design. They typically come in assay cards. Cast bars are made by pouring molten gold into a mould, giving a more raw, irregular appearance. Cast bars carry slightly lower premiums but are equally pure. The Perth Mint's iconic square cast bar is a favourite of serious investors for its premium efficiency.

No account is required for one-off purchases. For ongoing storage clients or repeat buyers, we create a client profile which gives you access to inventory statements, storage documentation, and simplified repeat transactions. Account setup requires ID verification in person at either our Sydney or Melbourne office.
